Tips on how to take care your handbags

Handbags are a safe investment as they don’t go out of fashion frequently like clothes or shoes and also they aren’t bound by size restrictions. 1. Store your handbag properly-

You should never store your handbag without a cover or inside support. Stuff your bag with tissue paper/ newspaper, sweaters/scarves to mention its shape, then store it in their dust cover or cotton pillow cover in upside down position.

2. Unclip any removable straps-

Make sure to cross the handles over each other and unclip any removable straps before storing your bags if not use for long. Do not leave handles with heavy hardware to hang on the sides as it puts a lot of stress on your bags which may cause tearing. So you should always zip or fasten your bags and then overlap handles on the top of it.

3. Know the material-

Not every bag made of same material. Some handbags made of leather, leatherettes while other made of fabric, foam or silicone. So each of these materials need a different kind of handling and treatment. Hence you have to know what kind of material your handbags made of before cleaning and preserve it.

4. Invest in good leather Cleanser-

If your handbag made of leather then you should invest in a good leather cleaner which will keep your bag clean and looking good as new.

5. Remove Stains-

Make sure to remove any stain instantly with water and a soft cloth. For stubborn stains like food stain and ink stain, you will need a professional.

6. Eliminate Odor-

To remove odor place a plastic bag filled with baking soda inside your bag, zip it for two days. It will absorb all odor and keep your bag fresh like new.

7. Never use plastic or vinyl to store your handbag-

Make sure not to store your bag in plastic or vinyl as they trap wetness and moisture otherwise you will end up growing mold all over your handbag.

8. Do not over-clean your bag-

You should avoid over cleaning your leather handbag because it will build-up chemical layers which can also destroy your bag. Spot cleaning with water is important.

9. Handle your bag with clean hand-

Avoid handling your bag with dirty hands or if your hand have lotion or cream on them.

10. Rotate your handbag-

Rotate your handbags weekly basis to avoid wear out too quickly. Do not leave your bag under direct sunlight.
